Utah Family Photographer {How to Choose Yours}

Choosing a photographer is one of the most important decisions you will make.
That is a loud statement, but it's true.
Why is it the most important decision?
Because simply put, you are investing in your posterity, your genealogy, your memories.
I've said it once, I will say it again,
Your images are one of the few things in life that won't depreciate with time.
The longer the time that goes by, the more valuable your memories will become. . .
You should choose a photographer to capture YOUR family the way
YOU want to remember your family.
Do you want to remember only smiling faces....
Perfect clothing....
and the Perfect setting
Cause I know plenty of studios who can do that for you in a millisecond. . .
Or do you want someone who takes the precious time to encourage
Family interaction
Family Relationships
Love
and
Each.Unique.Personality...
and who can make any personality shine be what may grumpy, shy, funny, boisterous....
Someone who can shoot in just about any weather circumstance and still make you look beautiful...
come rain, shine, snow, summer, winter.
and someone who can convey the love you feel in your heart through your eyes in an image.
When you choose someone to photograph your family, choose someone whose images speak to you...
That convey emotion.
One of my favorite quotes is,
"Just because you buy a Nikon doesn't mean you are a photographer. It means you are a Nikon Owner"
'Photographers' these days are a dime a dozen.
But are they?

One of my favorite things to hate hearing is
"She must have a nice camera."
I hate to break the news to you folks.
It's not the camera.
It's who is behind the camera that counts.
Who is going to be behind the camera for you?
Love,
SG

Utah Engagement Photography (Shannon & Colby)

Engagement photography in Utah makes my heart happy.....perhaps because it gives me hope that someday I will be engaged myself and I will get to have pictures taken of me and someone I adore. Oh the day will be beautiful. But until then, I get to live vicariously through my clients and the love they share. . . and that is fantastic for now. I was introduced to THE Ms. Shannon last year around this time. She is one-of-a-kind, kind of gal. She is beautiful, funny, spunky, spiritual, outgoing, talented and fantastic in just about every form of the word. As for Colby, I hardly know the fella, but he seems like a great guy...anyone who makes Shannon happy gets my thumbs up. This girl has seen a lot of trials in her days....(bizarre how much our lives correlate) maybe that's why my heart loves her so much. I think they are about to start a beautiful journey together, and I couldn't be more excited for them. xoxo.

Utah Senior Portraits (Urban) Allie+Harley=Breathtaking.

Utah Senior Portraits downtown were so fun with Allie's Dads Harley. Made for a spectacular prop. It doesn't hurt that Ms. Allie is Gor-juice-imo. I love Senior portraits and urban shots. I'm not going to lie, I love how these turned out. I think I had more fun taking them than she did having them taken! Thanks Allie and Mark for letting me document such a fantastic transitional time in a young gals life. Good luck ahead of you Allie! The world is so fun;-

Utah Child Photography {I might be Biased}

These two may be my most loyal clients, or at least their mom is.
They don't have much of a choice if they are photographed or not.
Because with a mom like me
they have no choice. . .
You see,
Six years ago today I started my photography company, I suppose you could say I was prompted to...
because
Six years ago tomorrow marks the sixth year their brother, my son James has been in heaven.
God  knew I needed SOMETHING
to get me through the hardest years of my life.
And photography was it.
When James died,
my passion for photography was born.
When I lost the opportunity to capture the memories for myself,
my mission was to capture the memories for you.
And I knew there was no WAY I would miss the opportunity to capture the memories
of my living, breathing earth angels.
The smiling children I have photographed over the years
have often times been the only thing to get me to smile
when I felt like crying.
I snapped these photos at James' grave today.
It made me happy;-)

I have connected with each child I photograph.
There is a love in my heart for each of them,
because they were part of my healing process.
Endless times I found myself editing photos for clients
and as their smiling faces lit up my computer screen they also lit up my heart,
Your smiles literally became my smile
as I couldn't help it when I saw others be happy, I too myself was happy.

Today Deseret Book did a photo shoot of me with my kids at James' grave because they are running a story of healing and grief for his anniversary tomorrow.
It's kind of weird being on the other side of the camera, doing the things I tell people do of
'interacting' and 'acting natural'
We sang, we danced, we tickled, we laughed, we played, we raced, we were happy.
It was nice to have a photo taken of me and all my kids, together.
It may be different than what the typical mother-children photograph looks like, but I cherish it.

I love what I do.
It is honestly,
one.of.my.greatest.blessings.
Not because I just get to bless you with cherished and priceless memories,
but because you get to bless me with your happiness and love.
xoxo.
